Where is the coolest place you have ever been?
By far that would have to be a little cocktail bar in Paris with my Husband. We had a blast there, probably too much fun, hee, hee but I will always remember how hard I laughed and how good it felt, and the look and the smell of everything around me. It was absolutely amazing!In the town where you grew up what are the three things that you miss the most?
Wow, that’s a biggie...Well, the first and most important thing would have to be my Nanny (grandmother), she inspired me the most in my life and I miss her terribly, with every fiber of my being, she is no longer on this earth, but in my heart forever, so I guess the next thing would be the huge family reunions we used to have, they were somewhat boring when I was younger, but man what I wouldn't give to have another one, and the next would have to be the family I still have there, I was blessed with the most amazing people in my family, such beautiful people to look up to and love.
What is your favorite game?
Truth or dare.....is that bad? Hee hee !!
What is your favorite food?
Chinese food, man, I could eat it everyday and be perfectly happy.
Who do you most admire and why?
My daughters, because they are the most amazing young women I know, they are all so unique, beautiful, loving and strong and they all have such awesome spirits and they are absolutely the best things that I have ever done in my life!
Why do you love your job?
Boy, these are some great questions! I love what I do because it isn’t a job to me. It is something that I almost crave to do....you know how you feel when you wake up and you are so excited to go do something you have looked forward to for a long time? That is how I feel when I am doing what I do! I am absolutely in my element, in my zone, when I am designing, creating, someone’s dream, reality, or theme of what they had envisioned for their event or wedding.
I am rewarded by the smiles on the brides face when she sees her invitation I designed, or the color scheme I helped her create for her bouquet, or by the excitement in their voice when I present them with the table centerpiece.
I get tears in my eyes and goose bumps watching the bride and groom set eyes on each other for the first time, corny? Maybe, but that is why I do what I do and why I love it!
What is Something People Don’t know about you?
Ok, well, you only want one thing? I will give you a few.......I love listening to ‘80s music, I love to Dance, I am addicted to Housewives Of New Jersey, Atlanta...... I love them all, I hate tomatoes, I don’t like feet, (weird right?) I snort when I laugh real hard, hee, hee, I love to cry watching a great love story, okay that’s probably enough right?
What do you specialize in? Day of coordination, full service, week or month of?
I help my brides get that look they envision in their mind, or the idea they have seen somewhere else maybe, but I design a fresh, edgy, current, event with their own unique, personal presence being the focal point and then i wrap my edgy/chic signature to it. Does that make sense? Ha, ha somehow it all works out in my mind! Thankfully! I really like full service weddings because it gives me a great opportunity to get to know the the couple, their likes, dislikes and their expectations. This allows me,as a planner and friend to the bride and the couple to create something that is truly unique and fresh, something that has a signature truly its own. That’s what I focus on and what I believe sets me apart.
Where do you get your inspiration for weddings and events?
Where do I not get inspiration is the question...my girls give me inspiration, the way my youngest one giggles and smiles at me, the way she still puts on a tutu and twirls, the change of the seasons, the colors when I went to St. Lucia were amazing inspiration, blogs are huge because there are so many amazing, talented planners out their, sharing their knowledge with us all, magazines are huge, (my husband will tell you that I am a mag. Junkie)and from awesome input from brides as well, when you ask enough questions and listen well enough you get great ideas just from their uniqueness to make their event spectacular with a Gillum Event Planners Signature!
